Dr. Erin Edlund became a member of the Little Al Foundation board in 2023. She grew up in Burt, Iowa, and knew the Miller family through church growing up. In 2021, Erin's youngest daughter Lolo was diagnosed with cancer and her family became part of the Little Al Foundation family. Lolo completed treatment in 2023 and in the wake of that experience, Erin is committed to paying forward the love and support they were shown during the 818 days Lolo was in treatment, sharing "The Little Al Foundation provided our family with immediate and direct support, and the process of submitting our application was clear and easy. There was so much for us to think about and no time to think about it, so having LAF there to ease some of our burden was huge. In total we logged more than 13,000 miles of driving between our home and Children's Nebraska during treatment, and the funds we received made a huge difference. Now, on the other side of it, I am fully dedicated to making sure other families have access to the incredible gift the Little Al Foundation provides." Erin and her husband Jeff reside in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa with their three children, two dogs, and cat. Erin currently serves as chief of staff and vice president for university engagement at Morningside University.
Ryan Miller
IN MEMORIAM
It was Ryan’s vision that makes the Little Al Foundation the success it is today. While he and his wife Holly were in Michigan with their son Alan, a.k.a. Little Al who was born with a severe heart defect, they watched so many families who were separated because one of them had to stay home and continue working. One day while eating lunch on the campus of the University of Michigan, Ryan said “we need to do something to help these families”. And so he did. While we lost Ryan suddenly in November of 2020, his dream will live on through the board of directors and their work to make the Little Al Foundation bigger and better than he ever dreamed it could be. The Little Al Foundation is Ryan's amazing gift to the world, inspired by his love for Little Al.
Alan Miller

Farming and contractor work keep him busy along with being the mayor of Fenton, Ia. He fills his free time enjoying traveling, fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle.
